Senior Ditch Day

Watsonville -- Which would you prefer: Sitting inside for six or seven periods as the beautiful day goes by? Or sleeping in, getting breakfast with friends and celebrating one last beach day with your senior class?

Well, on Monday, April 25, most Monte Vista seniors chose the second option, during the age-old tradition of senior ditch day.

“It was cool to see how many seniors join and tagged along for breakfast and a beach day,” said senior Mike Greene. “It was fun to see how chill our class really is.”

Though many participated in the festive ditch day, there were a few who didn’t make it due to parents not excusing them for their missed absences or because of sports. Those who did attend school were given extra credit or exclusive aid for upcoming tests and assignments.

“It wasn't bad at all, to be honest, since most seniors weren't there, we had less class work,” said senior Ryan De Los Santos. “We just had more time to ask questions and get more one-on-one time.”

With the summer and graduation closing in, many seniors have shown signs of “senioritis,” and are hoping for the last month of school to go quick and easy. Teachers have advised them to finish strong, especially with AP testing and finals.

“It is important to finish strong and not pick up bad habits going into college,” said Teacher Tyler sharp. “College is important, and can decide what your future goes toward.

With 2016 class leaving we hope there transitions and future stay bright.
