WATSONVILLE-- Tentacles emerge from a human skull in a life-like white charcoal drawing, a girl stands surrounded by the cosmos in a picture, a snake slithers out of the rotting face of a sculpture.
These were just a few of the works visitors could see at the Monte Vista Christian art show last week.
The show will be open throughout the week during flex and lunch starting Monday the 14th and will be open the following week as well.
“It’s important that the community of MVC supports the arts,” Art Teacher Deborah Corona said. “Be sure to go to the show and vote. There will be food and music and fun. Like I always say, art matters.”
The Spring art show is an annual event that gives students in art 1, 2, 3 and AP, as well as ceramics and photography, a chance to display their art in a professional environment.
Many students are new to displaying their art, while several others have experienced the show in past years.
“It's an intriguing experience,” junior ceramics student Julissa Escutia said. “You get to see how creative and artistic people can be.”
The special exhibition on Thursday will feature the MVC band. Food and drinks will be provided. Pieces will also be on sale for less than a dollar.
